Free Cambridge Winter Wellness Walks

Updated: 4 days ago

As the temperature drops and the days grow shorter, many of us are tempted to hibernate, retreating to the warmth of our homes. However, winter walks offer an incredible opportunity to stay active, boost your mental health, and stay connected to others during what can be an isolating time of year.

Join us every Sunday!

Where? Meeting at Hills Road Sports & Tennis Centre, free parking is available on site and toilets are located inside the centre.

Cambridge Winter Wellness Walks

When? Setting off at 6.30pm every Sunday evening, meeting from 6.20pm.

What do I need? The walk will occur in all weather so please wrap up warm and wear comfortable footwear.

How far? The walks are not designed around distance but more the opportunity to get outside this winter and stay connected. And don't worry we will walk at a pace suitable for all because like the distance it is not about speed!

How do I join? These Cambridge Winter Wellness Walks are free to join, simply join the Whatsapp Group to stay up to date on walk details. ‎

Why are the winter wellness walks important?

  • Improve Mental Health Winter often brings a dip in mood for many, sometimes leading to seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Walking outdoors, especially during daylight hours, can increase the production of serotonin and endorphins—our body’s natural mood lifters. Even a short walk can help combat the winter blues and leave you feeling more energised.

  • Boost Your Immune System During the winter months, we’re more prone to illnesses like colds and the flu. Getting outside and engaging in physical activity can strengthen your immune system. Fresh air and moderate exercise can help reduce stress, which in turn keeps your body’s defense mechanisms strong.

  • Stay Connected In Winter, community is more important than ever. Everyone is friendly and welcoming so the once strangers can become new friends. During the darker nights you will also feel safer walking with a group.

So, lace up your boots, layer up, and step outside with the Cambridge Winter Wellness Walks.

Remember join our Winter Wellness WhatsApp group to stay up to date with all the walks.

These sessions are free but if you would like to consider donating here are some options:
